I hate to say it, but it's true. Small business consulting (sometimes known as business coaching) is hot, and everyone wants to be one.

And it's easy to see why.

It's simple to get started, you can make a big difference in the lives of your clients, and it seems like a wonderful "second career" for people who are seeking to make a contribution and have a lifestyle change. However, what most people find is that while consulting may be very fulfilling on a personal level, for many people it is not financially rewarding.

Most small business consultants say they are not motivated by money — and as it turns out, that's a good thing—because most of them aren't earning very much.

But it doesn't have to be that way.

It doesn't have to be that way because you really ought to be earning a great living in exchange for the services you provide. After all, if your services end up increasing business owners' wealth by tens- or hundreds of thousands, or even millions of dollars — then it should be pretty easy for you to do well indeed.

I have been working with business owners — most of them with businesses that have gross sales between $500,000 and $20,000,000 — for the past 15 years. I've helped my clients collectively earn more than $240 million in increased profits and proceeds from sales of their businesses. And because of how I've helped my clients, I've personally earned within the top 1% of all coaches worldwide for most of that time.

So when I say it doesn't have to be that way, I know what I'm talking about.

But I do have a problem. It has nothing to do with getting clients or getting paid. My problem is that I want to help more people than I can possibly reach, and while seminars and books and audio programs are wonderful ways to spread ideas, and teleseminars are all the rage, nothing beats one to one consulting to help a business owner get accelerated results.
